For the last year's words belong to the last year's language
And the next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.
.........T. S. Eliot
As the year 2020 draws to a close, it leaves us with a roller coaster of emotions, some new experiences, unfathomable challenges, and lessons that will stay with all of us throughout our lives. Let's enter the New Year with fresh vigor, commitment, enthusiasm, and prayers to Almighty for keeping our members and their families and society around us hail, hearty, and happy.
As the Editor-in-Chief of this esteemed journal, it gives me immense pleasure to announce that our journal is now indexed in the SCOPUS database. It would not have been possible without the support of our patrons, contributors, reviewers, and editorial team of the journal. On this momentous occasion, special laurels and gratitude should be reserved for our Seniors, IAOMR academy members, past editors and their teams without whose support and guidance this day would have not been possible. The purpose of this communication is also to draw the attention of our prospective authors for focusing on future global health needs especially in the field of Oral Medicine and Radiology.
The times of crisis also gives us an oppurtunity for self contemplation and deep introspection. Covid 19 Pandemic has created immense fear, challenges to our fraternity but at the same time has also given our profession a purpose, commitment and zeal to work for humanity and eradication of corona virus infections. We as Dentists have contributed to the health care by providing our expertise. We ought to work in harmony and our collective efforts can show promising results in research related to Covid 19. Our professional ethics mandates us to cater to the needs of the community and serving them is of utmost importance. Thus we need to put our foot forward.
No doubt, the temporary shutting down of colleges in this pandemic period has slowed down our academic activities, but time never waits, and this too will pass. We need to capitalize on our knowledge and the spirit of leadership to address the global crisis that all other dental specialities are experiencing and provide quality patient care. Our familiarity in medical management, infection control, quality assurance in radiographic techniques and interpretation, and patient safety measures need to be used the most at this point. These views and experiences along with our best practices can be translated into research to create evidence.
The success of any scientific journal depends upon the quality of manuscripts, dedication and commitment of the editorial board and reviewers who painstakingly review the manuscripts, and undoubtly the readers who make the entire process worthwhile. I earnestly expect from authors more articles on clinical/original research, systematic reviews/metaanalysis to be submitted as per the guidelines mentioned on the website www.jiaomr.in/Instructions to authors. The plagiarism check and adhering to ethical issues before submitting the manuscripts saves precious time of the editorial team and prevents undue delay thus ensuring the continuity and periodicity of the journal.
We need to contribute in increasing the citations of the articles published in JIAOMR to improve the impact factor of the journal. The need of the hour is that each one of us should put extra efforts into improving the circulation and subscription base of the journal.
I am sure with our collaborative efforts we would stride forward in overcoming the obstacles and make our journal a reputed journal at par with international standards.
