On behalf of the editorial team of the Journal of Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology (JIAOMR), I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and warm wishes to all the members of the Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology (IAOMR) for their support towards this journal.

It is time to glance back for a moment and look at the path of progress that we have traversed on and then look forward toward the goals that we are yet to achieve.

At this juncture, I am proud to announce that we have succeeded in transforming our dreams into reality. Our objective is to publish high-quality research strictly adhering to all the protocols and guidelines for publishing. The members of the editorial board have been incessantly working on upholding the quality of the scientific content as per the requirements of the indexing bodies.

As it is said rightly, research and publication complement teaching and training.

It is indeed a matter of pride and pleasure for the entire editorial team that the submission rate of the articles has substantially increased. We have received almost 300 manuscripts in the year 2020 and almost 150 manuscripts have been submitted till now by authors not only from colleagues in the country but also from our colleagues across the globe.

We have always made a conscious effort to publish our journal on scheduled time as per the requirements of the indexing bodies. Furthermore, the impetus is given to incorporate original articles as much as possible in the journal. The editorial team focuses on the quality and uniqueness of the articles to make JIAOMR publications eminently citable and also improve the impact factor of the journal.

Standard checklists are incorporated, which aids authors to format their manuscripts and eases the reviewers' task to give their comments/remarks. These checklists vary with the types of study design—like randomized clinical trials and observational, case-control, cohort, and cross-sectional studies. The guidelines such as consort statements, CARE guidelines, PROSPERO, or Cochrane checklists significantly aid in the evaluation of different types of research data.

I also take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to all the reviewers who have taken their precious time out in helping us in reviewing the articles and giving their valuable remarks in this prevailing pandemic scenario.

It is an honor for us that Wolters Kluwer has come up with a new website and an online portal for authors. Although there are some technical glitches, I assure you that we will overcome them and ensure smooth processing of the articles and the editorial cycle.

The year 2021 has tested our resilience, willpower, and ability to withstand extreme emotional turmoil. With profound grief and sorrow, I inform you all about the sad loss of our extremely talented senior colleague and an active member of our academy, past president Dr. D.B. Gandhi Babu and Dr Renuka J Bathi, another senior most faculty of our academy. Madam had been the Head of Department at SDM College of Dental Sciences and Hospitals, Dharwad, K.D. Dental college, Mathura and later at Sharda university, Noida. She had been the mentor to many of our colleagues. Her warm and loving nature cannot be forgotten by all of us, which will be missing. These two personalities had been the guiding light and have contributed immensely to our academy. On behalf of all the members of IAOMR, I pay my tribute and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray to the almighty for the departed souls. As the saying goes—Life does not get easy or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.
