It has been a great honor to take up this prestigious post of the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology (IAOMR). I am greatly humbled and very happy to know that all the members of IAOMR trust me with taking up the responsibility of editor-in-chief of the journal of our academy. I also believe that, with the commencement of my post as the editor-in-chief, comes the onus of accomplishing the goals that were laid out for the journal.

I would fail in my duty if I do not thank all the people who have been instrumental in making me the editor-in-chief for JIAOMR. I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Honorable President, the Honorary Secretary, all the members of the executive committee (EC), and all my senior and fellow colleagues who have considered me capable of taking up this new responsibility. I would also wish to extend my thanks to the past journal committee, especially the immediate past editor-in-chief, for continuing their support and working collaboratively to finish all the pending work of the journal.

There have been a lot of positive changes in the journal in the past two years, and taking the journal further from this juncture toward its obvious goal is my ardent duty which I promise to fulfil with humility and perseverance. The credit of the obvious change can be given to all the editorial board members and also the reviewers who have taken out time to review articles on a short notice. A special note of thanks goes to the publishers, which was changed two years ago, who have been very adaptive and efficient to any changes required for fast track publishing, when required, and the efficient working of the user friendly portal of Journal on Web for article processing. The journal will be continuing with the same publishers, Wolters Kluwer.

The focus of the journal, as of today, is regularity and publishing quality work from the fraternity of Oral Medicine and Radiology. This can be brought about by team work including not only the editorial office but also the entire academy by sending in novel work done and taught by our senior experienced teachers and practitioners. With the mission of making our journal a PubMed indexed journal, I take up this responsibility as the editor-in-chief of this prestigious journal of our academy and humbly request all the members of the academy to contribute their valuable work toward the betterment of the journal and the Indian academy of Oral medicine and Radiology.

As rightly said by Walter Elliot, “perseverance is not a long race, it is many short races one after the other.” and thus will be the perseverance of our journal team to achieve the goal of bringing out a better journal for tomorrow.
