My heart and thoughts go out to the Dr. B.K. Venkataraman's family. His dedication and great contribution to the field of Oral Medicine and Radiology even till his final days cannot be forgotten. Although sir might not be alive physically with us, it can be assured he will live on for a very long time not only through his impressive professional work but also through the lives of many students he positively impacted. In Chennai, 101 life members of IAOMR and others attended Prayer meeting of Dr. B.K. Venkataraman on 21 October 2018 at Vijay Park Hotel, and prayed for the departed soul. May his holy soul rest in peace at the flowery feet of god. He is the first person started MDS in Oral medicine Diagnosis and Radiology in India. Nikos Kazantzakis said “True teachers use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create bridges of their own.” My beloved teacher left us on the very Teachers Day, to remind us always that Dr. B.K. Venkataraman has devoted his life for the students and the specialty of Oral Medicine and Radiology. The great teacher is not with us today, but the great man departed and left a legacy behind for everyone to cherish. We shall miss you sir.
