It is still hard to believe that my dear friend Soheyl has left for heavenly abode. My association with Soheyl is from 1994 when we first met in KLE Belgaum to pursue our PG in Oral Medicine and Radiology. The bond that we developed during our post graduation has grown stronger over the years. We shared a great rapport as students and due to this our Post graduation was as smooth sail. In today's world it is difficult to find such an altruistic person. He was a brilliant student and always supported and guided me. Soheyl was knowledgeable, talented, composed, patient unlike me and would always console me whenever things went wrong. I was indeed privileged to have such a wonderful, caring, reliable batchmate who remained my friend throughout. He was an ardent reader and inspired me and inculcated reading habit in me. In the last 25 years we have attended all conferences together. The bonding of KLE Alumni has always been very strong and is reflected in the way they support and stand by each other.

Soheyl had opted to pursue his Post graduation in Oral Medicine and Radiology by choice and was very passionate about it. He was an academician par excellence. His students adored him whether it was in KLE, Bagalkot or Mullana. Soheyl was a brilliant teacher. His unique way of teaching with his cartoons and caricatures simplified concepts and ideas. All his colleagues and students vividly remember his cartoons. Soheyl was an excellent orator and made a lasting impression on his audience. He was very kind hearted, simple, humble and a wonderful human being. His helping nature without any expectations was always appreciated. He was a man of few words who believed more in action than words. He had planned lot of activities for his tenure as President, which he was going to take over in the upcoming National IAOMR conference at Khammam.

He was a good man – generous, caring, responsible, giving, always true to his word. His life, as he chose to live it, with noble purpose, merits superlatives, for he was exceptional to each of us, either as a friend, a colleague, a student, or a teacher. He was a great asset for our academy and always believed in bringing IAOMR to greater heights. Soheyl had a knack for attracting talent and had great leadership and team building skills. He was gifted with ability to put everyone around him at ease.

Our academy has lost a great teacher. His untimely demise has indeed left a great void in the fraternity of IAOMR. May the Almighty bless the departed soul. The pain, sorrow and grief that his family must be undergoing is unimaginable. I pray God give them strength to bear this irreparable loss.

It is with a heavy heart I bid adieu to my dear friend Soheyl Sheikh. Though he is no more he will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, students and colleagues.
