Vinay Kumar Reddy Kundoor

Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology

It gives me great happiness to tell you that the Journal of Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology (JIAOMR) has come a long way all these years, and where it stands today it speaks volumes of the academy's achievements, both big and small. The speciality of oral medicine and radiology has seen a lot of changes since the yesteryears, and these changing times demand new ideas and voices that inform and motivate the coming generations. The journal has always been a medium not only to connect our fellow members of the academy but also to encourage and educate the budding oral medicine and radiology specialists. There is no scope for neglect in maintaining the standards of our prestigious journal and it becomes the duty of each one of us to put in the best of our efforts into it as the members of this academy.

All these years a lot of hard work has gone into the journal. At this juncture, I would like to thank all those who have contributed to the success of this journal. First, I would like to thank all the editor-in-chiefs (from 1989 onwards) and their teams who have put in their knowledge and hard work in developing the journal to this level. Second, I applaud the efforts of all the administrative office bearers, right from the Honorable Presidents to the Executive Committee Members, of the academy all these years for selflessly working for the improvement of the academy and in taking vital decisions to bring up the journal. Third, I value the unstinted support extended by the members of the academy all these years in the growth of the academy and the journal as well. On a special note, I should appreciate the past editor-in-chief, Dr. Sri Krishna, and the wonderful editorial team for their coordination and team work in the last four years, which has seen the maximum changes for the betterment of the journal. I also thank the Wolters-Kluwer group for putting in maximum effort in making the system accessible and easy to reach for each and every author, reviewer, and editor.

The recent years have proven to be very fruitful for the journal with a lot of improvements. I am very happy to tell you that the journal has been streamlined with improved and highly user friendly online uploading, reviewing, and publishing process; all past issues of the last fifteen years have been archived and are now accessible online; and the journal has been included under UGC approved journals and reincluded under DOAJ and Index Copernicus.

The Journal still has a long way to go, but it is already so far from where it used to be. I know that it has not been an easy journey, but having seen the editorial team's determination, persistence, team work, and will to win, I am sure the journal is going to achieve much more in the near future and will be indexed in PubMed very soon.

Jai Hind!
